President Biden, drop the charges against Assange!

Assange's arrest sets a dangerous precedent for freedom of the press. That's why we say:

Biden, drop the charges!

Julian Assange is a political prisoner of the US empire. His unjust imprisonment represents an attack on freedom of the press and an attempt to cover up the truth of the horrors committed by the US war machine.

The real reason for his imprisonment is clear: to serve as an example in an attempt to silence the voices that cry for justice and an end to wars.

Mr. Joseph Biden
President of United States

Mr. Merrick B. Garland
Attorney General

As an anti-imperialist activist, I express my firm solidarity with Julian Paul Assange and call for his immediate release. I also demand that the President of the United States drop the charges against him. Assange is a political prisoner and is facing the full brunt of the wrath of US imperialism due to his work with WikiLeaks which has provided fundamental information about the crimes of humanity committed by the US and its allies.

For more than twelve years, Julian Assange has faced relentless persecution because he refused to remain silent. With WikiLeaks, he has revealed the terrible abuses of the war machine of the United States and its allies around the world, responsible for imposing terror, genocide, destruction, and violation of the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples.

As punishment for defending and publishing the truth, Assange has been confined in Belmarsh maximum-security prison in the United Kingdom for the last four years, while he appeals against his extradition to the United States, where he could face up to 175 years in prison. The persecution of Julian Assange constitutes not only an attack on press freedom, the right to information, and basic human rights, but also sets a dangerous precedent regarding the criminalization of journalism itself.

The case against Assange violates several international laws as well as the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. It is public knowledge that Assange's own lawyers were spied on by UC Global, a Spanish company hired by the CIA, which is a flagrant violation of the right to defense and the right to a fair trial. Several UN representatives have already warned that Assange's physical and mental health has deteriorated dramatically throughout the legal process.

This is why, as an anti-imperialist activist, I join my voice with Assange's family, journalists, lawyers, activists, and human rights defenders around the world who have condemned the political persecution of Julian Assange.

Assange must be released immediately. To this end, I raise my voice to demand: Biden, drop the charges!
